What Is MOPS?
MOPS exists to encourage, equip and develop every mother of a preschooler to realize her potential as a woman, mother and leader in the name of Jesus Christ. Our vision is that every mother of preschooler is so impacted by her MOPS experience that she carries it with her for life, making her a better mom who creates a better world. Our MOPS group is a community that strives to meet the needs of every mom with children from birth through kindergarten. MOPS recognizes that urban, suburban, and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single, and married moms all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be. MOPS helps moms through relationships established in the context of local groups that provide a caring atmosphere for today's mother of young children. MOPS also encourages and supports moms through resources such as books meetings and this website. When Is MOPS? We meet the first Thursday of every month from September to June. Meetings start at 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Each month we have a speaker discussing different aspects of raising children and motherhood. There is a discussion time with small groups and often a creative activity. Is there Childcare? The MOPPETS program provides safe and nurturing childcare for the little ones. Children are grouped by age and have a great time playing together. They learn a Bible lesson and have craft time. Snack is provided. Where Does MOPS meet? We meet at Bedford Community Church 160 Bedford Center Road,Bedford Hills, NY 10507 914.666.5384 |
2011 - 2012 MOPS Theme
MomSense: Bold • Loving • Sensible – equips moms to embrace their mothering instincts and develop their own parenting style while navigating through the myriad of daily mom decisions. Most women wonder:
Just as in real-life, sometimes in games, unexpected, “chance” events occur, abruptly changing our paths. We must regroup and determine our next steps. Sometimes we follow the instructions of “experts.” Sometimes we follow the advice of trusted friends. Sometimes we decide our “house rules” work best for our family. Teaming together with other moms is a great strategy. Relying on a spouse or mentor can help us play more effectively. And, most of all, developing a strong God-Sense is essential for mothering. Growing as a mom through the analogy of game playing assures every mom gains confidence in her abilities as a mom.
- How do I decide what to do when I really don’t know what to do?
- Should I trust my intuition?
- With so much available information, how do I discern what’s best?
- What are the most important family values?
